Faux rock cover over pool equipment, 07-30-09
This is a small sample of some recent projects. More will be added as we are able to upload them. This faux & real rock project was built using sprayed on concrete, (shotcrete) around a rebar steel grid. It took a month or so to build and used 30 tons of river rock on the pond floors and over 32 tons boulders in/around the ponds. It also is biologically filtered, (no chlorine). Built with Sierra Pacific Landscape of San Diego, (see link below)
This was a commercial project for a restaurant. Shotcrete again over a steel grid was used with 10 tons of all real rock boulders. A simple fountain over placed boulders mortered in place is the water feature with a flagstone coping. Built with Sierra Pacific Landscape. see

This is a large Boulder Bunker that was built in Petraro California. The approx. 11'x 13' x 10' tall and includes a floor safe built into the poured concrete slab floor. This was also built with shotcrete. Used for storage these structures cannot burn and blend into the landscape. see

These photos show the completed repair and recolor. This project took approx. 3 weeks to complete. We removed the loose concrete and ground out the rust areas. Powerwashing and acid cleaning then allowed for new concrete and waterproofing applications. We also added new faux rock to help keep all the water in the water courses. It involved the main pool waterfall, a spa feature, a long stream, and an upper pond.
Large Pool Feature Remodel and Recolor, 05-29-09, La Jolla, Ca
This project showed some severe damage and rusting. It also required the constuction of a skaffold and the removal of all water in the main pool. This was possible only because the pool finish was a Techsone or Pebbel Tech type of finish. If the pool finish was plaster then it would need to be removed and new plaster reapplied up the completion of our work.
Recolor, 02-04-09, Poway, Ca
This large recolor project in Poway took over 8.5 hours to complete. On this job I took care of all the taping and masking off of the hardscape. This can be done by the client or a less expensive laborer if preferred. In any event, the client was replastering the pool so water and plaster removal had been completed when I arrived. It is possible to do recolors without the complete removal of all the water. In this case the client lowers the water level a couple of inches. I then do the recoloring and "feather" the paint down towards the waterline. Once complete the water level is raised "hidding" the demarcation line.
